2015 Year in Review

2015 Year in Review

As we come to the end of 2015 there is a lot to reflect on in the seat of Epping.

Rebuilding NSW
Legislation to lease the poles & wires successfully passed through the Parliament, this has unlocked vital funds which will allow us to deliver major new infrastructure projects across NSW.

Sydney Metro (formerly North West Rail Link)
You may have noticed a change of name, this project is now called Sydney Metro.

Tunneling for the Sydney Metro is nearing completion, we have seen the two tunnel boring machines Isabel and Maria complete their journey at Epping. The final breakthrough is expected at Cherrybrook train station in the new  year before the next stage of the project begins.

Earlier this year the Premier announced that the project would continue beyond Chatswood, under the harbour and into the CBD then on to Bankstown, with construction on this phase to begin in 2017.

Epping to Thornleigh Third Track (ETTT)
The Epping to Thornleigh Third Track (ETTT) is nearing completion. I recently inspected the new concourse at Cheltenham station, the works are almost complete and I am looking forward to the beautification and revegetation process.

The much awaited duplication of Pennant Hills Road will begin major works in the new year. You may have already seen them undertaking some of the preliminary works around the suburbs. They have an information centre on Pennant Hills Road, Pennant Hills, I encourage you to drop in.

Fit for the Future
We are also waiting with anticipation to see what becomes local council amalgamations as part of the Fit for the Future program.

I have enjoyed regularly visiting different parts of the electorate. I became the newest member of the Beecroft-Cheltenham Lions club, and enjoyed helping out at the Beecroft in Bloom Festival. I dropped in on my friends at Cherrybrook Rural Fire Service on their open day. I’ve also enjoyed visiting a number of local schools for graduation and presentation days. I have a great relationship with many of the school principals and we recently enjoyed hosting a young intern from Cheltenham Girls High in our office. During October I have been joining my friends in the Indian community at various events as they celebrate  the Diwali/Deepavali festival.
